Hiya Friend,
I’m a joyful homebody. So even though I love food, cooking and hanging out in the kitchen, I don’t love going to the grocery store. When it comes to produce, we usually shop a couple times a week (although because it’s garden season, I just stroll over to my veggie patch—woo-hoo!). For household and kitchen staples, I try to think ahead and get ‘er done, stocking up with enough toilet paper and hand soap to fill a bunker—it’s kinda like I’m prepping for the next Snowmageddon… in July!
Which is why I’m so thankful that Thrive Market exists. I’ve not only cut down on trips to the store, I’ve also cut some of my grocery shopping costs by 25-50%. New to Thrive? I was too, until recently. Basically, Thrive Market is an online supermarket on a mission to make healthy living accessible and more affordable for everyone. What sets Thrive apart from other online stores is that all of their products are at wholesale prices and they give you free shipping for orders over $49. Plus, Thrive has a really awesome 1:1 model: For every paid membership, Thrive donates a free membership to a low-income family, student, school teacher or veteran. Yep, pretty awesome.

What could be better than eating healthy food and staying on budget? Nada. Just the other day I visited Thrive and loaded up my digital cart with a bunch of my pantry and personal care faves. A few days later they arrived on my doorstep—Boo-yah! It was so quick and easy, plus I saved $82.40 (over 32%).
Here’s my haul—you can check out how I’ve used some of them in the yummy recipe below.
- Organic Virgin Coconut Oil: I could go on and on about all of the uses for this luxurious oil—it’s a nutritious cooking substitute and great for your skin too.
- Almond Butter: This scrumptious spread is a staple in my healthy home. From putting a grown-up twist on the classic peanut butter sandwich, to giving raw desserts a rich and nutty flavor, I never let my almond butter supply run dry. It also finds its way into my smoothies most days!
- Maple Syrup: This sweetie is the perfect addition to your morning oatmeal or healthy desserts—without any refined sugars. Plus, it’s loaded with antioxidants and minerals.
- Goji Berries: These little suckers add a powerful antioxidant boost to your trail mix and they’re also a great dessert topper.
- Chia Seeds: Have you tried chia pudding? If not, you’re in for a treat! You can even use these omega-3-filled seeds as an egg substitute for your vegan baked recipes. Woot!
- Hemp Seeds: Sprinkle these special guys on top of your salad for an extra punch of protein. Add them to your smoothies and you’ve got a hearty breakfast or lunch, chock full of vitamins and minerals.
- Nori Sheets: These mineral-rich sheets are full of calcium and iron—they’re the queen of wraps for your sushi fixings!
- Brown Rice: Think brown rice is boring? Well, think again! Ditch typical takeout and whip up your own version of your favorite Asian meal using this fiber-loaded grain. How about brown rice pudding? If you’re making it, I’ll be there in 10…!
- Tamari: Gluten sensitive? Tamari could be the tasty soy sauce solution you’ve been waiting for (just make sure you look for the gluten-free variety). Deepen the flavors in your sauces and soups with this awesome ingredient.

Coconut oil. Pink Himalayan salt. Nuts!
EVOO and coconut oil for sure!
I can’t live without organic peanut butter.
Nut butters!
My new favorite pantry staple is sunflower seed butter… what?!?! amazing!
I can’t live without tahini. I use it in most of my salad dressings in the summer and in sauces for the winter on my veg and grain bowls. It adds a creaminess that is savory that I can’t get anywhere else.
This contest is misleading, you will only win the $1,000 if you invite the most friends who then pay and join Thrive Market – don’t waste your time. Scam!
Hi Laurie! Kris Carr’s $1000 giveaway and our June referral contest are two separate giveaways. We hope that you will enter both!
I have had so many unidentified health problems over the past 3 years, despite being an active, 10-years-gluten-free chick living in NYC with plenty of organic options!
Right now, I am in complete thanks to Turmeric (and Cinnamon, too!). Ive been adding it to my morning smoothies and it is doing wonders for my unidentified chronic tummy inflammation and as a result, my skin too!
Just this week I got my older sister, who has struggled with weight and poor eating habits for the majority of her life, to watch Hungry For Change. She called me after to tell me that it has changed her life!
She threw out all the bad, toxic drinks, frozen foods, sugars, and “energy bars,” heading straight to Wegmans, sending me pictures of all of her new fresh foods and organic goodies!
Today is her 27th Birthday and I am beyond excited and touched to have her join this healthy journey & lifestyle with me 🙂 🙂
Kris Carr, your story has drastically changed what my life has been for the past 3 years, giving me so much hope (and clearly my sister’s life, too!) I had to take this comment opportunity to Thank you so much & I hope this message finds you! Best Wishes Always
Being vegan, we need our protein. Hemp hearts are great and easy to add to anything: smoothies, homemade hemp milk, desserts, salads, etc. Have some hearts today.
I love apple cider vinegar. I use it in my water, soups, skin, and salads. Thank you Kris!
Organic coconut oil. Good for inside and out! 🙂
Favorite Pantry item is brown rice. You can make any snack a fulfilling meal by adding brown rice.
I absolutely cannot live without is Sunwarrior Protein Powder…it keeps me full, gives me clean vegan, gluten free protein. Helps me keep and build muscle. I just LOVE IT!! Mind you I also consume a variety of superfoods that I alternate such as hemp seeds, camu camu powder, maca powder, maqui powder, flax seeds, chia seeds….They also play a vital role in my health.
My can’t live without essential is sunflower seed butter. My youngest daughter is allergic to tree nuts and peanuts. Not a fun thing for the whole family and particularly not fun for vegans. But sunflower seed butter is a great alternative and I no longer even like the taste of peanut butter.
Brown rice
Apple cider vinegar! It has so many uses from going in my salad to using it with my face mask! Can’t go without it! 🙂
